Credit Card Glossary
Card Number / PAN (Personal Account Number)
The series of numbers that is the card number consists on 15-20 numbers (usually 16 digits) printed at the front of the Credit Card.
CVV / CAV / CVV2 / CSC
A series of numbers consisting of 3 to 4-digit numbers print on the back of a Credit Card.
- CVV only can be input by the Customer on the payment page.
- CVV is confidential, Customers aren't allowed to inform anyone about CVV.
- Merchants aren't allowed to store CVV in any form.
- Merchants aren't allowed to ask Customers for CVV information.
Expiry Date
The expiration date of the Credit Card or Debit Card. The expiry date printed on the front of the card.
Acquirer
Bank/Non-Bank Institutions receiving and processing funds for payment transactions from Customers. Such as Visa and Mastercard.
Issuer
Bank/Non-Bank institutions that issue Credit Cards to the Customers.
OTP (One Time Password)
A series of random numbers (generally consisting of 4 to 6 digits) send to the Customer's cell phone as part of the authentication process.
- The OTP is confidential. Customers are not permitted to notify any party.
- OTP may only type directly by the Customer or Account Owner on the payment page.
Amex
Short for American Express, Principal.
Chargeback
Refunds from the Merchant to the Customer after the Bank receives the submission from the Customer and does the transaction inspection process.
